Partial Hospital Program (PHP)

The Partial Hospital Program is designed for both male and females adolescents and adults leaving residential or inpatient treatment that need additional structure to continue their recovery. PHP is also suitable for individuals whose clinical condition does not require acute residential or inpatient care but requires more than outpatient or intensive outpatient programs. The program structure offers support and treatment to both male and female clients and allows them to remain in their communities and practice their newly-acquired self management skills at home in the evenings and on the weekends. The schedule for PHP outlines what types of therapies are offered and provides a detailed overview of a client's typical day.

Our Partial Hospital Program meets six days a week (Monday through Saturday from 9:00AM to 3:30PM) and offers a variety of therapies to help clients overcome their eating disorder. The adolescent group program provides opportunities for clients to address developmental concerns. The adult group program explores developmental concerns as well but also focuses on helping clients to balance collegiate, career, and family demands with self-care.

To participate in the Partial Hospital Program, clients must be medically stable and have an outpatient treatment team. A multidisciplinary team of professionals develops and implements individual treatment plans for each client. Nutritional planning, comprehensive psychiatric assessment, and medication management are key components to care. Each treatment plan includes individual case management and family, nutritional, and group treatment designed to focus on the specific eating disordered behaviors as well as other issues each client presents. The average length of PHP treatment is three to six weeks and varies according to one’s medical stability, response to treatment, symptom improvement, and insurance benefits.

CEDC will work with Massachusetts school departments to obtain tutors for adolescent patients unable to attend classes due to PHP attendance.

  • Today, I am happy, healthy and safe, and thriving because of the love and support I received at CEDC…
  • The CEDC program has left me feeling strong and optimistic, and I cannot say enough positive things about the program....I know that the road ahead will not be easy but just knowing that CEDC is there as a safety net gives me a feeling of calm…
  • Thank you for everything---especially for believing in me when I couldn’t believe in myself. Sometimes that was what convinced me to keep trying even when I felt hopeless…
  • I can’t express how grateful I am to have had people like you in my life. You have all helped me more than I could have ever dreamed possible. Every day I looked forward to coming in to partial to see your smiling faces, and your kindness has brightened the hardest of days…
  • Not only did CEDC teach me how to beat my eating disorder, but you also taught me how to be a good person, how to help other people, and listen to them….Thank you all for making me ME again.
